David: King of Israel
documentary
#ABOUT THE PROJECT
Written and directed by David L. Cunningham, “David: King of Israel” is a four-part docudrama produced by Warm Springs Productions for FOX Nation. Combining cinematic re-enactments with historical insight, the series revisits one of the Bible’s most influential figures through a grounded and deeply human lens. Rather than presenting David solely as a legendary king, the production follows his extraordinary journey from shepherd to ruler, exploring the defining moments that shaped his leadership, faith, triumphs and personal failures.
The production demanded locations capable of conveying both the grandeur of an emerging kingdom and the intimacy of David’s personal story. Morocco’s remarkable diversity of landscapes, combined with its long-standing experience hosting historical productions, provided the ideal setting to recreate this timeless narrative. Filming took place across several of Morocco’s locations, including Aït Ben Haddou, Fint Oasis, the Kingdom of Heaven set, Ouarzazate Museum, Oadid Studios and Taghmart.
Our team handled DIT, drone shoots and BTS video on this production. On the ground, we managed data across the different shooting locations, ensuring footage was backed up and organised for the editing team throughout the schedule. We filmed aerial shots at key sites including Aït Ben Haddou and Fint Oasis, capturing the scale of the landscapes used to recreate ancient Israel. Alongside this, we produced behind-the-scenes footage of the cast and crew, giving the production additional content to support its promotion.
