Morocco has emerged as a top choice for international filmmakers, offering stunning landscapes, a rich cultural backdrop, and a well-developed film industry. Whether you’re producing a feature, docu-fiction, mid-length, or short film, obtaining a permit is mandatory. The Moroccan Cinema Center (CCM) oversees this process, ensuring all productions meet local regulations.
This guide breaks down the permit process step by step, helping filmmakers navigate requirements and procedures efficiently for a smooth, trouble-free shoot.

Why You Need a Film Permit in Morocco
Before obtaining a documentary permit and operating legally in Morocco, you must identify a Moroccan production partner who holds an “autorisation d'exercice et agrément de production.” This authorization from the Moroccan Cinema Center (CCM) is crucial as executing cinematography for foreign entities is a regulated activity in Morocco. Not every production company possesses this authorization; therefore, carefully selecting a reliable production partner who understands your needs and defends your interests is a critical step in the process.
